Yoga

I currently offer one weekly class, Fridays 1:30-2:30 at my office,

437 S. Yellowstone Dr., Suite 105.

The building is accessible, with parking lots in front and in back, and no steps if you come in from the front. My office is on the ground floor.

Cost is $12/class, or 6 consecutive weeks for $60 up front.

This class is designed for older adults, newer students, and anyone who experiences some stiffness or range-of-motion limitations. We start in a chair, move to standing at the chair or wall, then come down to our mats. On the mats, we are on our sides and backs; not hands and knees unless it is appropriate for everyone in class. You complete a health history form so I can design a class that is safe and beneficial for you.

Watch for a fall Parkinson's Series Tuesdays 2:30-3:30, likely starting in mid-October at GHC Sauk Trails. This 8-week series for people with Parkinson's and their care partners is offered through YAFA, with training from Iris Mickey. The class will be chair-based, with no floor poses. If you know people who might be interested, please put them in touch with me!

Background: I began practicing yoga around 2009 and found it essential for restoring muscle balance and reducing pain. I realized yoga can help people regain fuller use of their bodies than massage alone. In 2015-16, I went through teacher training with certified yoga therapist Iris Mickey.

Since then, I’ve taken Therapeutic Wisdom of Yoga workshops with Doug Keller (co-developer of Anusara yoga), Sensory Awareness Training for Yoga Attunement (SATYA) with Tias Little of Prajna Yoga, and the Abridged version of the Duke University Yoga for Seniors training with Kimberly Carson and Carol Krucoff,

as well as shorter local workshops and intensives on restoring functional alignment and movement. I’m also a student of yoga’s inner effects, the steadiness and presence it cultivates.

I look forward to sharing exploration and healing movement with you.
